BY PLANE

There are flights to Finland from various UK and European airports, either direct to Lapland or  connecting through Helsinki.
The nearest airport is Kittila, with a  short  transfer to Yllas by connecting bus, hire car, private or shared taxi (55km, 50minutes).

Please note that flight schedules reduced during the Covid19 pandemic and are now starting to get back to pre-pandemic levels. Flights to Lapland are predicted to increase over the next few years.

SCHEDULED FLIGHTS

Finnair, BA  and Norwegian operate scheduled flights from the UK to Helsinki with connecting flights to Kittila or Rovaniemi airports.

In winter you may be able to fly direct to Kittila from London Gatwick with Finnair or to Rovaniemi with EasyJet from Gatwick, Bristol or Manchester. Ryanair now fly from London Stansted to Helsinki, Tampere and Rovaniemi.They also fly from some European airports.

Mainland  Europe flights to Kittila and Rovaniemi from various cities  including Paris, Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf with Finnair, Norwegian, Lufthansa, SAS

CHARTER FLIGHTS

Sometimes there are charter flight-only deals. Look at Tui and Inghams from the UK.

BY TRAIN

To Kolari or Rovaniemi

Take a comfortable overnight sleeper train from Helsinki or Tampere to Kolari (connecting bus, taxi or hire car transfer 40minutes) or Rovaniemi (170km, 2.5-3 hours by hire car). 

CAR HIRE

Hire a car from the airports, Rovaniemi railway station or locally in the village. The roads are well maintained , even in winter.

Car hire isn't necessary to enjoy a holiday at our cabin however, it is a good option for a longer fly-drive holiday in summer, or for more flexibility at any time
